Al Roker has come to Kelly Clarkson’s defense after she recently admitted to using a weight-loss drug. On Tuesday’s episode of “Today,” he reminded viewers that he’s “fought” obesity himself and that he had gastric bypass surgery in 2002 and lost 100 pounds.
“There’s too much judgment going on,” the weatherman said while talking about Clarkson. “People, as long as they’re working with their doctors and being healthy about it, people ought to just back off and let them live their lives.” He added that whatever someone does to lose weight isn’t easy and urged others to “get off people’s backs.”
Hoda Kotby and Jenna Bush Hager kept the topic going during the fourth hour of “Today,” praising Clarkson for her “transparency” about losing weight. On “The Kelly Clarkson Show” Monday, the singer revealed to her guest Whoopi Goldberg that she doesn’t take Ozempic, but uses a different medication. “I’ve lost a lot [of weight] as well,” Clarkson said. “Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that, too, because my blood work got so bad.”
