Hero Saves Life Of Toddler Running Into Busy Traffic Alone

On Friday evening in Mesa, Arizona, a toddler ran out of his home and into a busy nearby intersection. Fortunately a bystander rushed into traffic, scooping up the child and carrying him out of harm’s way. The harrowing incident was captured on the dashcam of a car traveling toward the intersection. The video shows the child being narrowly missed by two cars as the driver screams and honks her horn trying to prevent a tragedy.

The woman who recorded the event describes feeling fearful and helpless, saying there wasn’t much she could do because her own child was in her car. Her honking may have helped, though, causing the toddler to pause just long enough for the bystander to reach him. She praised the bystander for her brave actions, noting how the woman risked her own safety to save the child.

The boy’s father, who was not home at the time, said he received a notification from his doorbell camera showing a woman carrying his son. He says that his wife, who had briefly left the house, has been dealing with postpartum depression and forgot to lock the door, allowing the toddler and his younger sibling to leave the home. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
